that's what they all say. but i know better. when i hear the speech of the flames i know better.
a man once asked me where he could go to be free.
"in heaven you'd have God...wouldn't you be free?"
"but in hell i'd have nothing, wouldn't i be free from need?"
"free from need, and starved with desire."
he laughed and died.
but i know better. when they tell me my town is burning i'll know better.
you'll be taken first, when the blade falls. men can make men that jump buildings but can they make men that fall to the ground? they are not made, they are mistakes.
but i know better. when i fall to the ground i arise and though i burn i burn with passion. they would take that away from me, but i know better, better than to hide from the fire of will.
the "will to win" he called it, and the "will to wither" said some. but i knew better and i told them my fire will not be blown out by the wind but will be kindled by the hunger for power.
you will laugh when i burn and burst into flame but so will i, for i know better. i know it, and hold it, though it burns. my ashes will be blown into the eyes of the innocent who will weep because of them.
